Two Teams Tie for First at Pink Ribbon Two Lady Scramble

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Yesterday, Oct. 10, 2022, the Pink Ribbon Two Lady Scramble event was held at Jefferson City Country Club in Jefferson City, Mo. A total of 44 female golfers paired in groups of two took to the links to compete for the title and support breast cancer awareness.

This was an 18 hole two lady scramble competition, with teams paired according to handicap index. All proceeds from the event went to a breast cancer awareness program.

Play began with a shotgun start at noon. After the round was done, teams were flighted based on results.

Competition was close throughout the round and most of the groups were clustered together within a few strokes of each other.

After the round had finished, two teams emerged as the A Flight winners, tied for first place at one under, 71: the pairs of Janis Clemens (Sedalia) & Sherry Kempton (Sedalia) and Barbara Blankenship (Jefferson City) and Deidre Parkinson (Columbia). Following them was the team of Beth Halsell (Lake Ozark) and Josette Berry (Lake Ozark), who finished with a score of one over, 73. 

In the B Flight, three teams tied for first place at four over, 76: Monica Ralston (Jefferson City) & Mandy Dudley (Columbia), Carolyn Schroeder (Jefferson City) & Debbie Ferguson (California), and Kathy Beykirch (Sedalia) & Becky Haulotte (Sedalia). 

Finally, the C Flight was led by the team of Stacie Haddox (Pacific) and Loyce Labbe (Ballwin), who finished with a score of nine over, 81. Second place in the C Flight belonged to Brenda Ward (Sedalia) and Susan Van Horn (Sedalia) with a score of 11 over, 83.

ABOUT MGA:

The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf throughout the State of Missouri. The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship. Four founding clubs would be the ones in existence in St. Louis in those early years – St. Louis Country Club, Algonquin Golf Club, Glen Echo Golf Club and Normandie Golf Club. Four years later, the invite-only Missouri Amateur was held in Kansas City at Evanston Club. 1911 marked the real organization of the MGA with Bonner Miller as Secretary and Executive Director. Ever since then, the MGA has striven to provide tournaments and spaces for Missouri golfers to sharpen their skills and enjoy the game.
