Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 06/20/2026 Last Updated: 08/26/2026

The Missouri Golf Association (“MGA,” “Missouri Golf,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates this website at mogolf.org. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit the site, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what control you have over it.

We’ve tried to write this in plain English. If something here isn’t clear, contact us using the information at the bottom of this page and we’ll explain it.

What This Policy Covers

This policy applies to mogolf.org only.

Missouri Golf works with a number of outside platforms that handle their own data collection under their own privacy policies. When you leave our site and land on one of these, their policy governs — not ours:

  • Golf Genius — tournament registration, entry, payment, live scoring, and leaderboards
  • GHIN / USGA — handicap accounts, score posting, and the World Handicap System
  • MGA Clubhouse (mgaclubhouse.org) — member services
  • Our online shop (mogolf.teecommerce.shop) — apparel orders and payment processing
  • Sponsor and partner websites linked from banner ads and promotions
  • Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube — our social profiles

We don’t control what those services collect, and we don’t receive copies of everything they store. We’d encourage you to read their policies if you use them.

Information We Collect

Information You Give Us Directly

Contact form. When you send us a message through the contact page, we collect your full name, email address, phone number (if you provide it), and whatever you write in the message field.

Newsletter signup. If you subscribe to our email list, we collect your email address and any other fields the form asks for at the time.

Email, phone, and mail. If you reach out to us directly, we keep whatever you send us as part of ordinary business records.

Volunteer, scholarship, donation, and program inquiries. Some of our programs — the Missouri Junior Golf Foundation, MWGEA Scholarships, the Hole-In-One Program, the License Plate Program, and volunteer opportunities — may ask for additional information depending on what you’re applying for or requesting. We only ask for what we need to process the request.

Information Collected Automatically

Like nearly every website, ours collects certain technical information automatically when you visit:

  • IP address (which may be truncated or anonymized depending on the service)
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system and device type
  • Screen size and general device capabilities
  • Pages you view, how long you spend on them, and the order you view them in
  • The website or search engine that referred you to us
  • Approximate geographic location, derived from IP address (typically city or region level — not a precise location)
  • Date and time of your visit

This is standard web analytics data. We use it to understand how the site is being used and where it needs improvement.

Information From Third Parties

We may receive limited information from the platforms listed above — for example, aggregate tournament participation figures from Golf Genius, or membership counts from our handicap service provider. We don’t purchase personal information from data brokers.

Cookies, Tags, and Similar Technologies

Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics

We use Google Tag Manager (container ID GTM-TM4N57TL) to manage the measurement tags running on this site. Tag Manager itself is a container — it doesn’t collect data on its own, but it loads the tools that do.

Through Tag Manager, we run Google Analytics 4 to measure site traffic and usage. Google Analytics sets cookies that assign your browser a randomly generated identifier so it can tell repeat visits apart from new ones. It reports on things like which pages are most popular, how visitors move through the site, which devices they use, and which sources send us traffic.

We also track clicks on sponsor banners and links so we can report performance back to the sponsors who support Missouri golf. This tracking records that a click happened and which sponsor placement it came from. It is not tied to your name or contact information.

Google Analytics data is processed by Google LLC. Their privacy policy is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy, and you can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using their browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Other Cookies on This Site

  • Essential cookies — required for the site to function, including session handling, form security, and load balancing. These can’t be turned off without breaking the site.
  • Cloudflare — we use Cloudflare for security, performance, and bot filtering. Cloudflare sets cookies to identify trusted traffic and block malicious requests. See https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.
  • WordPress and Elementor — our content management system and page builder may set functional cookies related to page display, caching, and form handling.
  • Google Fonts — some page typography loads from Google’s font service, which involves a request to Google’s servers that includes your IP address.
  • Embedded content — pages containing embedded video, maps, leaderboards, or social media content may load cookies from those providers.

Managing Cookies

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking all cookies will break parts of this site. Instructions vary by browser — check your browser’s help documentation.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Browsers send “Do Not Track” signals inconsistently and there’s no agreed standard for honoring them, so we do not currently respond to DNT headers.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Respond to your questions, requests, and messages
  • Send newsletters and updates if you’ve signed up for them
  • Administer memberships, tournaments, programs, and services
  • Process volunteer applications, scholarship inquiries, and donations
  • Publish tournament results, standings, and championship records
  • Understand how the site is used so we can improve navigation, content, and performance
  • Report sponsor banner performance to the sponsors who fund our programs
  • Protect the site against fraud, spam, abuse, and security threats
  • Meet our legal, tax, and recordkeeping obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.

Tournament Results and Public Information

This is worth calling out specifically, because it’s how competitive golf works.

If you compete in an MGA tournament, qualify for a championship, appear in the Bushnell Player of the Year or Hieronymus Cup standings, or are inducted into the Missouri Golf Hall of Fame, your name and competitive results are published publicly. That includes:

  • Live and final leaderboards
  • Season point standings
  • Tournament archives and historical records
  • News releases and recaps posted to this site and distributed to media
  • Our social media channels

This information is published on mogolf.org, on Golf Genius, and often picked up by golf media and local news outlets. Once it’s published, it becomes part of the public record of Missouri golf and may be archived indefinitely by search engines and third parties outside our control.

By entering an MGA competition, you should expect your name, club or city affiliation, division, and scores to be made public.

Photos, Video, and Likeness

We photograph and record video at MGA tournaments, junior events, and association functions. These images are used in our galleries, news posts, social media, promotional materials, and sponsor recognition.

If you or a member of your family appears in a photo or video on this site and you’d like it removed, contact us and we’ll review the request. We’ll accommodate reasonable requests, though we may not be able to remove images that have already been distributed to media or reposted by others.

Children’s Privacy

Missouri Golf runs programs for junior golfers, including the Stan Utley Junior Tour and Missouri Junior Golf Foundation events for players ages 8 through 18. We take this seriously.

This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this site. Junior tournament registration happens on Golf Genius, not on mogolf.org.

Registration for junior events requires a parent or legal guardian to complete the process and provide consent. Parents and guardians should review the privacy policy of the registration platform being used.

We do publish the names, ages or age divisions, home cities, and tournament results of junior competitors, consistent with standard practice in competitive junior golf and the same way results are published for adult events. Parents and guardians who have concerns about this should contact us before their child competes.

If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information through this website, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

How We Share Information

We share personal information only in these situations:

Service providers. Companies that operate parts of our website and services on our behalf, including our web host, email delivery provider, analytics provider, security and CDN provider, form processor, tournament management platform, and payment processors. These providers are only permitted to use the information to perform services for us.

Program partners. Where a program is jointly administered — for example, scholarship programs, the license plate program, or handicap services through the USGA/GHIN system — we share the information necessary to run that program.

Sponsors. We report banner and link performance to sponsors in aggregate form only (impressions, click counts, general engagement). We do not give sponsors your name, email address, or individual browsing activity.

Legal requirements. If we’re required to disclose information by law, subpoena, court order, or valid government request, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of MGA, our members, or the public.

Organizational changes. If MGA merges with, is acquired by, or transfers assets to another organization, information may transfer as part of that transaction.

Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as we need it:

  • Contact form submissions: retained indefinitely as part of correspondence records
  • Newsletter subscriptions: retained until you unsubscribe
  • Analytics data: retained according to our Google Analytics configuration of 14 months
  • Tournament results and championship records: retained permanently as part of the historical record of Missouri golf
  • Membership and financial records: retained as required by tax, accounting, and legal obligations

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information, including HTTPS/TLS encryption across the site, a managed hosting environment with regular updates and backups, and a web application firewall and bot filtering through our CDN provider.

No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure. We can’t guarantee absolute security, and we’d ask you not to send sensitive information — Social Security numbers, financial account details, medical information — through the contact form or by unencrypted email.

Your Choices

Email. Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email us directly and ask to be removed. We may still contact you about tournaments you’ve entered, memberships you hold, or other transactional matters.

Analytics. Use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, block cookies in your browser settings, or use a browser with tracking protection built in.

Access and correction. Contact us if you want to know what information we hold about you, correct something that’s wrong, or ask us to delete it. We’ll respond within the time frame required by applicable law.

State Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, state law may give you specific rights over your personal information — such as the right to know what we collect, request a copy, request correction or deletion, and opt out of certain uses. Some states also give you the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under state privacy laws.

To exercise any right available to you, contact us using the information below. We’ll verify your identity before acting on a request. If you use an authorized agent, we’ll need proof of their authority.

Visitors Outside the United States

This website is operated in the United States and intended for a United States audience. If you access it from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. By using the site, you consent to that transfer.

Third-Party Links

Our site links to a lot of outside resources — sponsors, member clubs, the USGA, tournament platforms, our shop, and more. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content or privacy practices. Check their policies before providing information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our services, technology, or legal obligations change. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last Updated” date at the top. Material changes will be announced on the site. We’d encourage you to check back periodically.
