Team Missouri Finishes Third at Southern Junior Cup

Little Rock, Ark. (July 30, 2025) – The final round of the 13th Annual Southern Junior Cup wrapped up today in Little Rock, Arkansas. Today’s round featured singles matches with players from Arkansas, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Missouri. Team Missouri finished in third place with 10 points.

Today’s single matches began at 8 a.m. with each player giving their all to secure the final points for Team Missouri. Kate Ryan won her match against Alabama’s Merritt Daniel, leading early in the round to finish 4 & 2. KC Lenox fought hard against Oklahoma’s Maggie Ruby resulting in a 4 & 3 loss. Addie Swan faced a tough matchup in Alabama’s Shiloh Gilbert, falling to a 1-up loss. 

Avery McLaughlin tied her match with Arkansas’s Chloe Freville. Anna Bell was victorious after thirteen holes, defeating Oklahoma’s Gabby Gross 6 & 5. Morgan Withington fell short to Arkansas’s Presley Stam 7 & 6. 

Harper Ackerman started ahead, but ended up tying Alabama’s Jay Wilson. Ben Christian fought a tough battle against Oklahoma’s Ainslie Stanford III, finishing 1 up. Chayton Jordan lost to Alabama’s Andrew Woods, who finished 4 & 2. 

Cole Packingham also faced a challenging match, falling to Arkansas’s Jack Denery. Anson Munzlinger was tied through sixteen but ultimately lost to Oklahoma’s Sammy Bonaobra. Landon Barks finished 4 & 2, claiming the win over Arkansas’s Berkley Knapp.

Missouri earned 5 points from the singles matches, bringing their total to 10 to take third place. Arkansas finished as the overall winner with a score of 15 points, while Alabama claimed second with 14.5 points and Oklahoma came in last place with 6.5 points.

The Missouri Golf Association congratulates all the players for their hard work and sportsmanship. Their dedication was clear throughout the competition, and they represented Missouri well.

Little Rock, Ark. (July 29, 2025) – Twelve MGA junior golfers concluded Day 1 of the 13th Annual Southern Junior Cup, held at Chenal Country Club in Little Rock, Arkansas. The format for the day featured Four-Ball matches in the morning, followed by Alternate Shot matches in the afternoon. Team Missouri ended the day in third place, with a total of 5 points.

Team Missouri faced tough competition in the morning round from teams from Arkansas, Alabama, and Oklahoma. Anson Munzlinger and Avery McLaughlin secured the first win for Team Missouri, beating Arkansas’s Hogan O’Keefe and Susanna Manns with a solid 3 & 2 win. Harper Ackermann and Anna Bell fought hard, but fell short against Oklahoma’s Ainslie Stanford III and Tori Kirberger, who finished 2 & 1. Ben Christian and Kate Ryan battled Alabama’s JP Groat and Shiloh Gilbert, and came out victorious with a 1-up finish. Cole Packingham and KC Lenox came up short to Arkansas’s Carter Pulley and Lillie York, who had a 3 & 2 win. Chayton Jordan and Addie Swan held strong in the first round of their matchup, but ultimately lost to Oklahoma’s Aniston Reynolds and Grady Thompson. Landon Barks and Morgan Withington fought hard against Alabama’s SJ Thomas and Kamdyn Kelley, but came up short after Alabama’s duo finished 1 up.

In the afternoon session, Anson Munzlinger and Avery McLaughlin tied their match against Arkansas’s Tyson Seyler and Yinyoe Yang. Harper Ackermann and Anna Bell fell short to Alabama’s JP Groat and Shiloh Gilbert, who finished with a 3 & 2 win. Ben Christian and Kate Ryan finished 2 up against Oklahoma’s Reed Higgins and Maggie Ruby. Cole Packingham and KC Lenox led Alabama’s Andrew Woods and Esha Gupta going into hole sixteen, but fell short in the end after Alabama’s duo ended 1 up. Landon Barks and Morgan Withington dominated their match against Arkansas’s Gabe Haslauer and Ana Bella Gutierrez, securing a 6 & 5 win. Chayton Jordan and Addie Swan tied against Oklahoma’s Ty Neatherlin and Nikki Pitts.

Congratulations to all the players who brought a competitive day of golf and good sportsmanship. Tomorrow’s competition will continue with singles matches beginning at 8 a.m.
