Senior Series Stops in Cape Girardeau at Dalhousie

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Today, July 10, 2023, a Senior Series Tour event was held at Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. A total of 70 senior golfers divided into flights by age competed in today’s round of stroke play.

Senior Series events are open to male golfers who are members of the MGA and 50 years of age or older. Competitors compete in flights based on their age as of April 17, 2023. 

Mark Lee (Miller) and Brett Newton (Lake St. Louis) tied for first place in the 50-54 Open flight at four over, 76.

In the 55-59 Open division, John Shock (Poplar Bluff) and Robert Godwin (Poplar Bluff) tied for first place after shooting six over, 78.

David Rudd (Wildwood) won the 60-64 Open division, shooting four over, 76.

Tony Brown (St. Louis) came out on top of the 65-69 Open flight with a score of one over, 73.

Finally, Robert Trittler (Wentzville) shot par for the day, 72, winning the 70+ Open division.

The following net flights have handicap strokes deducted from final scores.

Steven Cameron (Miller) won the 50-58 Net flight with a score of one under, 71.

Shawn May (Columbia) led the 59-64 Net division, firing two under, 70.

In the 65-69 Net flight, Kevin Kluge (Florissant) had the lowest score at one under, 71.

Marvin Frazier (Festus) came out on top of the 70-74 Net group at five over, 77.

Lastly, the 75+ Net group saw Dick Halterman (Weldon Spring) as its winner after he shot one over, 73.

The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf throughout the State of Missouri. The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship. Four founding clubs would be the ones in existence in St. Louis in those early years – St. Louis Country Club, Algonquin Golf Club, Glen Echo Golf Club and Normandie Golf Club. Four years later, the invite-only Missouri Amateur was held in Kansas City at Evanston Club. 1911 marked the real organization of the MGA with Bonner Miller as Secretary and Executive Director. Ever since then, the MGA has striven to provide tournaments and spaces for Missouri golfers to sharpen their skills and enjoy the game.
