Missouri Senior Four Ball Championship

The 2018 Senior Four Ball Championship concluded on Tuesday, May 23, after two days of competition. This year’s tournament was held at Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield, Missouri—which held the tournament once before in 2003.
The Senior Four Ball consisted of male players ages 50 and up. In a four ball format, each player has one partner and each partner plays his own ball. The lowest score per hole between the two partners is used for scoring. This tournament consisted of five flights: Championship Flight, Super Senior Championship Flight, Net 50-59 Flight, Net 60-69 Flight, and Net 70 and Over Flight. The two championship flights used gross scoring and all others used net scoring.
Players completed a total of 36 holes during the two day event. Each day had a morning wave and an afternoon wave in order to host as many participants as possible. Playing conditions were great until the afternoon wave of the second day when the weather chose not to cooperate. Less than halfway through their second round, players had to be called off the course due to a lightning delay. This delay lasted nearly two hours before conditions were safe enough for players to return to the course.
Jim Crumpley celebrated a hole in one during this year’s tournament. Crumpley aced Hole 4 in the morning wave of the first round to help his team record a net score of 58 for the day.
Winning the Net 50-59 Flight was Kent Kaiser and Bruce Bax. The two shot a net total of 121 (60-61).
The Net 60-69 Flight had a first place tie with a score of 124 between the teams of David Samp/Marvin Frazier (62-62) and Mike Goodwin/Jim Crumpley (58-66). Samp and Frazier took home the trophy after a scorecard playoff.
The team of Barry Dautrich and Gerald Oney took home the trophy for the Net 70 and Over Flight with a net score of 117 (59-58).
The Super Senior Championship Flight (65 and over) was won by AJ Kroeger and Tom McHenry (above) with a gross score of 141 (71-70). Link to Photo Gallery
This years Championship Flight was won by Mark Addington and Steve Groom (left). The two have won the Senior Four Ball three out of the last four years.
