Final Recap (Day 2 Canceled Due to Rain)
SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. (July 31, 2023) — Round one of the 2023 Parent Child Championship took place today at The Club at Porto Cima in Sunrise Beach, Mo.
After the first round of the tournament, competition is close in almost every division.
All of the following divisions played a scramble:
Shooting 11 under par, 61, are Del and JD Hedrick; they are going into the final round with a five-stroke lead in the Super Senior Division. Shooting eight under par, 64, and leading the Century Division are Brian and Vernon Bennett. With a score of five under par, 67, James and Mitchell Robinson lead the Fricke Division. Leading the Lanning Division are Dylan and Eric Bryan at seven under par, 65. Michael and Mike Snyder lead the Nicklaus flight after shooting an impressive 12 under par, 60. We are tied in the Watson Division; both the teams of Davis and Boyd Callis and Rick and Adam Sterling shot nine under par, 63.
The Championship bracket played a 6/6/6 format during round one. Holes 1-6 were scramble, 7-12 alternate shot and on holes 13-18, golfers in the championship division played best ball. Tied for the lead in this division at four under par, 68 (22, 25, 21) are the teams of Nicholas and Rick Barks and Brooks and Darin Baldwin. Just one stroke back, three under, and currently in third place is the team of Curtis and Mitchell Mather.
Round two will begin tomorrow morning, with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. There will be a morning and afternoon flight with golfers teeing off on holes one and ten.
