JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (August 31, 2026) – Hunter Parrish of Columbia added another Missouri Golf title to his 2026 season Monday, capturing the Missouri Mid-Amateur Championship with a three-day total of 7-under-par 209 at Jefferson City Country Club.
Parrish, the 2026 Missouri Amateur champion, entered Monday’s final round with a one-stroke lead and closed with a 3-under-par 69 to hold off Ben Pearson of Lenexa by one stroke. Needing a par on the 18th hole to secure the championship, Parrish did exactly that to finish rounds of 72-68-69 and claim the Mid-Amateur title.
The 54-hole stroke play championship began Saturday with calm conditions before the wind gradually increased throughout the weekend. A soft breeze greeted players during Sunday’s second round, while breezy conditions provided an additional challenge for the 25 players who advanced to Monday’s final round.
Corey Choate set the early pace Saturday, opening with a 3-under-par 69 to take the first-round lead. Sixteen other players finished the opening round at even par or better, including Parrish, who began his championship with an even-par 72.
Parrish made his move during Sunday’s second round. He fired a 4-under 68 to reach 4-under 140 through 36 holes and take the outright lead into the final round. Choate and Pearson sat just one stroke behind at 3-under, setting up a tightly contested final 18 holes.
The championship field was cut to the top 20 and ties following Sunday’s round, with 25 players advancing at the cut line of 4-over par.
Parrish maintained his position at the top Monday despite the breezier conditions. His final-round 69 moved him to 7-under for the championship and left him needing a par on the closing hole to secure the title. Parrish made par on No. 18 to complete the one-stroke victory.
Pearson kept the pressure on throughout the final round, matching Parrish with a 3-under 69 of his own. After rounds of 72 and 69 over the opening two days, Pearson’s closing 69 gave him a 6-under-par total of 210 and runner-up honors.
Adam Pfeiffer of Quincy and Kory Franks of Lake Ozark shared third place at 4-under-par 212. Pfeiffer closed with a 69 following rounds of 71 and 72, while Franks posted rounds of 73-69-70.
Defending champion Kevin Kring of Springfield put together another consistent showing at the Mid-Amateur. Kring opened with a 1-under 71 before rounds of 72 and 71 to finish tied for fifth at 2-under-par 214.
Parrish’s victory adds the Missouri Mid-Amateur Championship to a 2026 season that already includes the Missouri Amateur title, giving the Columbia golfer another state championship victory.
