FARMINGTON, MO (July 9th, 2025) – The 41st Junior Amateur Championship wrapped up today at Crown Pointe Golf Club in Farmington, with players teeing off at 7 a.m. for the championship round. With a competitive field of the state’s top junior golfers, the championship highlighted the rising talent across Missouri and delivered an exciting finish for players and spectators alike.
In the girls’ division, Betsy Mitchell (Kansas City, class of 2029) claimed the top spot early in the tournament, topping the podium all three days. Mitchell, runner-up in this summer’s Junior Match Play Championship, fired a 1-under 71 in today’s round for a total score of 5-under 211.
Mitchell led by two strokes following Day 1, shooting a 4-under 68. After an even-par finish on Day 2, Mitchell continued to lead the vision by 4 strokes, with Kate Ryan (Columbia, Class of 2025) and KC Lenox (St. Peters, class of 2025) following closely behind, carding an even-par after their two rounds. During today’s championship round, Mitchell posted 4 birdies in the first seven holes before a challenging middle stretch. She carded 5 birdies for the third consecutive day.
Kate Ryan (Columbia, class of 2025) finished second after shooting an even-par on the final day for a total score of even-par 216. Ryan did not hold back during her last Missouri Golf Association junior event, recording a 1-over 73 on Day 1, 1-under 71 on Day 2 and an even-par 72 on Day 3.
Addie Swan (Lees Summit, class of 2027) took third with a 2-over 218. After carding only one bogey during Day 1, Swan battled a challenging start during Day 2 shooting 4-over 40 on the front nine. Swan brought her game to Day 3 and ended the championship round with an even-par 72.
In the boys division, it was a head-to-head battle between Harper Ackermann (Webster Groves, class of 2025), Anson Munzlinger (Columbia, class of 2028) and Chayton Jordan (Rolla, class of 2025). All three players entered the championship round tied for first at 11-under 133.
In the championship round, Munzlinger, the 2025 Junior Match Play Champion, took the lead early with birdies on the first three holes, but after a bogey on five, Ackermann and Jordan quickly caught up. Ackermann, a University of West Florida commit, continued to birdie holes five, six and seven with Jordan, a Missouri S&T commit, birdieing holes six and seven as well. On the front nine, Munzlinger and Ackermann both finished at 3-under 33 while Jordan tailed at 2-under 34.
On the back nine, Ackermann was even through the first five holes, while Munzlinger went birdie, birdie, par, bogey, bogey and Jordan went birdie, birdie, bogey, par, par. After all three players birdied hole fifteen, Ackermann and Munzlinger were tied with Jordan following one stroke behind. On hole sixteen, Munzlinger sunk a 15-foot putt for birdie to put him ahead, while Jordan carded a bogey, taking him out of contention. On hole 18, Ackermann drained a must-make 10-foot putt while Munzlinger barely missed, sending the two into a playoff.
After a competitive three days of golf, Ackermann walked away with the Junior Amateur Championship after beating Munzlinger in the playoff. On the first hole of the playoff, Ackermann claimed the victory with a birdie, while Munzlinger had a par.
