JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (August 22, 2024) – The Missouri Golf Association is set to host the 2024 Mid-Amateur Championship & Jefferson City Country Club Memorial from August 24-25 at Jefferson City Country Club. The event will feature top amateur golfers from across the state, showcasing their skills on a challenging par-72 course.
The tournament will be played on the 18-hole Jefferson City Country Club course, which spans 6,795 yards. Designed by Robert Foulis and Craig Schreiner, the course opened in 2009 and offers a course rating of 71.8 on Zoysia grass. This well-regarded course will provide a test for the players, combining strategic design with demanding playing conditions.
Eligibility for the Mid-Amateur Championship is limited to male golfers who are MGA members, 25 years or older as of August 24, 2024, and residing in Missouri or a neighboring state.
The event will be divided into three divisions: the Mid-Amateur Championship (ages 25+), the JCCC Memorial (ages 50+), and the JCCC Memorial Super Senior (ages 65+).
The competition follows a stroke play format with two rounds over the weekend. After a practice round on Friday, August 23, the first round will take place on Saturday, August 24, followed by the final round on Sunday, August 25. Tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. and run until 12:40 p.m. each day.
This year’s field consists of 128 players, with an average age of 47. The youngest participants, Logan Smith (Maryland Heights) and Alex Locke (Springfield), are both 25 years old, while the oldest competitor, Robert Trittler (Wentzville), is 74.
Among the notable players are past champions Nicholas Sheppard (2023) (Springfield), Brad Carpenter (2022) (Washinton), and Adam Pfeiffer (2020, 2018) (Quincy). Other key contenders include Ryan Eckelkamp (Washington) and Hunter Parrish (Columbia), both of whom have had strong showings in recent MGA events.
Another highlight of the tournament will be the participation of Bobby Godwin (Poplar Bluff), who competed in the inaugural Missouri Mid-Amateur Championship in 1995 and finished tied for third place.
Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each division, including certificates to the club’s pro shop. The overall winner will receive a traveling trophy to hold for the next year.
