Jefferson City Country Club Welcomes Senior Series Competitors

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (August 12, 2024) – The Missouri Golf Association hosted a Senior Series event today at Jefferson City Country Club. The par-72 course, stretching 7,119 yards from the tips, presented a challenging yet rewarding experience for the 86 senior golfers who competed.

Jefferson City Country Club, situated in Missouri’s capital city, has been a significant part of the community since its opening in 2009. Designed by Robert Foulis and Craig Schreiner, the course features Zoysia grass, a course rating of 71.8, and a slope rating of 129.

In the 50-54 Open division, George Pardalos (Lohman) and Brad Thielemeier (Poplar Bluff) tied for first place, both finishing with a score of 6-over, 78.

David Pfeil (Eureka) took first place in the 55-59 Open division with a score of 1-over, 73. His performance included three birdies.

Mike Clark (Owensville) earned the top spot in the 60-64 Open division with an even-par score of 72, highlighted by five birdies.

In the 65-69 Open division, Tim Rinker (West Plains) and Mike Heim (St. Joseph) tied for first with scores of 3-over, 75.

Ron Eilers (Columbia) won the 70+ Open division with a score of 3-over, 75.

In the net flights, Tim Bowman (Kingdom City) led the 50-58 Net division with a score of 3-under, 69.

Bill Philbert (Holts Summit) and Doug Grooms (Camdenton) tied for first in the 59-64 Net division, both finishing with scores of 2-over, 74.

Terry Farmer (Warrensburg) and Arnold Bailey (Linn) tied for the top spot in the 65-69 Net division with scores of 2-over, 74.

Ray Burton (Warrensburg) earned first place in the 70-74 Net division with a score of 3-over, 75.

Lastly, Daric Elwell (Warrensburg) won the 75+ Net division with a score of 2-over, 74.

ABOUT MGA: The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf throughout the State of Missouri. 

The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship. Four founding clubs would be the ones in existence in St. Louis in those early years – St. Louis Country Club, Algonquin Golf Club, Glen Echo Golf Club and Normandie Golf Club. Four years later, the invite-only Missouri Amateur was held in Kansas City at Evanston Club. 1911 marked the real organization of the MGA with Bonner Miller as Secretary and Executive Director. Ever since then, the MGA has striven to provide tournaments and spaces for Missouri golfers to sharpen their skills and enjoy the game.
