Hunter Parrish Wins 119th Missouri Amateur Championship in 38-Hole Thriller

June 29, 2026

KANSAS CITY (June 28, 2026) – Hunter Parrish of Columbia captured the 119th Missouri Amateur Championship in dramatic fashion Sunday, defeating Logan Mayo of Tontitown, Arkansas, on the second playoff hole after the pair battled through 36 holes of championship match play at Milburn Country Club.

Played under clear skies, high temperatures and steady winds between 15 and 20 mph, the championship match featured momentum swings throughout the day as neither player led by more than two holes before Parrish secured the title with a par on the second playoff hole.

Mayo, a member of the University of Missouri–St. Louis men’s golf team, struck first by birdieing the opening hole to take an early 1-up lead. Parrish answered with a birdie on the eighth hole to square the match before winning holes 10 and 11 to build a two-hole advantage.

Mayo quickly responded, winning three consecutive holes (Nos. 12-14) to regain a 1-up lead. Parrish answered once again by winning the 15th hole before claiming the 17th to take a 1-up advantage into the afternoon session.

The momentum continued to shift after the lunch break. Mayo won three consecutive holes (Nos. 4-6) to move in front before Parrish answered by winning the seventh. One of the day’s biggest moments came on the ninth hole when Mayo chipped in from the greenside rough to win the hole and extend his advantage.

Parrish refused to go away. After winning the 12th hole to trim the deficit, he delivered one of the championship’s defining moments by birdieing the 16th hole to square the match. The players halved the final two holes of regulation, sending the championship to extra holes.

Both players matched birdies on the first playoff hole before returning to the second tee. There, Parrish made par while Mayo carded a bogey, giving Parrish the victory and his first Missouri Amateur Championship after previously finishing as runner-up in 2016.

Another storyline throughout the week was the presence of four-time Missouri Amateur champion Brad Nurski of St. Joseph on Parrish’s bag. After withdrawing from the championship prior to the opening round because of injury, Nurski caddied for Parrish throughout the match-play portion of the championship, helping guide him to his first Missouri Amateur title.

With the victory, Parrish earned an exemption into the 2026 U.S. Amateur Championship, which will be contested at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.

The championship concluded six days of competition at Milburn Country Club, which hosted the Missouri Amateur Championship for the sixth time.
