ST. LOUIS — Three-time Missouri Amateur Champion Brad Nurski (St. Joseph) leads the field at the 115th Missouri Amateur Championship at Bellerive Country Club after two rounds of stroke play earning him medalist status. Nurski shot two under par Monday and seven under par today to catapult to nine under par, 135, earning the first place seed going into match play.
He will be followed in the 64 player field in the first round of matches by Presten Richardson (Mt. Vernon) who sits at seven under par for the tournament after shooting one under par in Round 2. Richardson competes collegiately for Oral Roberts University. He was the 2019 Junior Match Play Champion.
The Bellerive course proved its worth, as there are just seven golfers that will finish stroke play under par: Max Kreikmeier (Chesterfield) four under par, Cameron Vanleer (Beaufort) and Addison White (Nixa) at three under par, Thomas Henson (Hermann), Sam Midgal (St. Louis) and Zachary Vandolah (Kansas City) at two under par, and Chad Niezing (Manchester) at one under par. The cut will be set at nine over par, 155 to cut the field down to its 64 match play qualifiers.
Following the second round, five players competed for the last spot: Tommy Boone (Columbia) David Eddy (Webb City), Alex Gentry (Jefferson City), Ben Tummons (Battlefield) and Tyler Comerford (Glen Carbon). Alex Gentry secured the final spot in tomorrow’s first round of match play.
The first round of match play will begin at 8:00 a.m. All golfers will tee off on hole one. If needed, a hole-by-hole playoff will follow directly after the group has finished their round. The field will be cut in half after each round until we have crowned a champion.

ST. LOUIS — After the first day of competition at the 115th Missouri Amateur Championship at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, Mo. 13 players sit under par with Presten Richardson (Mt. Vernon) and Max Kreikmeier (Chesterfield) tied for the lead at six under par, 66 in Round 1.
Richardson, who plays collegiately at Oral Roberts, and Kreikmeier, who competes for Missouri State Golf, will head into the second round of stroke play with a four shot lead over the eight players tied for second. Richardson made seven birdies and just one bogey during his first round to head into the clubhouse at 31-35. Kreikmeier made eight birdies and only two bogeys during his first round. He heads into the next round at 35-31.
Tied for third are Thomas Henson (Hermann), who competed collegiately for Central Missouri, Ryan Sullivan (Arnold), Tryn Titus (Springfield) who plays for Drury, Chris Martin (Rolla), Zach Shirley (High Ridge) and Brad Nurski (St. Joseph). All shot two under par, 70.
Round 2 will begin with staggered starts, with groups going off from the first and 10th holes. Tee times will range from 7:30 a.m. to 2:31 p.m.
Tomorrow is the final round of stroke play. The low 64 scores head into match play on Wednesday. If needed, a playoff will follow directly after the last group has finished their round.

The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship.
