Crown Pointe to Host Extended 40th Junior Amateur Championship

FARMINGTON, Mo. (July 6, 2024) – The Missouri Golf Association is excited to announce the 40th annual Junior Amateur Championship, set to take place at Crown Pointe Golf Club in Farmington from July 8-10, 2024. This milestone event promises to be a display of young golf talent, featuring the state’s top junior golfers aged 14 to 18.

This year, the Junior Amateur Championship will expand from 36 to 54 holes. Participants will play three rounds of stroke play, with a cut after the first two rounds to determine the final field for the championship round. This extension of the event could pave the way for future USGA exemptions.

Schedule of Events:

  • Sunday, July 7 – Practice round
  • Monday July 8 – 18 holes of stroke play, tee times starting at 7:30am
  • Tuesday, July 9 – 18 holes of stroke play, tee times starting at 7:30am
  • Wednesday, July 10 – 18 holes of stroke play, tee times starting at 7:30am (Championship Round)

Crown Pointe Golf Club will host the Junior Amateur for the first time, providing a challenging venue for this event. The tournament is open to male and female golfers between 14 and 18 years old as of July 8, 2024, and reside in Missouri or a contiguous state. Caddies are not allowed in this event. Players are only permitted to use pull carts, while spectator carts are available at the pro shop, subject to change.

  • Archer Schnieders (Jefferson City) – 2024 Junior Match Play Champion and 2023 Junior Amateur Champion, incoming freshman golfer at the University of Central Missouri
  • Ethan Mustard (Lebanon) – 2024 Junior Match Play Runner-Up
  • Trigg Lindhal (Hermann) – 2024 MSHSAA Class 2 State Champion
  • Noah Naugle (Nixa) – Advanced to round of 16 at 2024 Missouri Amateur Championship
  • Morgan Withington (St. Louis) – 2024 Junior Match Play Runner-Up, competed on the winning 2024 Junior Girls’ Four State team
  • Page Bowman (Springfield) – 2024 Junior Match Play Semifinalist, placed in the top 20 at the 2024 Women’s Amateur Championship
  • Siena Minor (Hannibal) – 2023 Junior Match Play Champion, incoming freshman golfer at Missouri State University

ABOUT MGA: The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf throughout the State of Missouri.

The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship. Four founding clubs would be the ones in existence in St. Louis in those early years – St. Louis Country Club, Algonquin Golf Club, Glen Echo Golf Club and Normandie Golf Club. Four years later, the invite-only Missouri Amateur was held in Kansas City at Evanston Club. 1911 marked the real organization of the MGA with Bonner Miller as Secretary and Executive Director. Ever since then, the MGA has striven to provide tournaments and spaces for Missouri golfers to sharpen their skills and enjoy the game.
