Bowman Wins Girls’ Shootout in Dominating Performance

JEFFERSON CITY, MO (Apr. 21, 2024). – The final round of the MGA Girls’ Shootout concluded this evening at Jefferson City Country Club.

Page Bowman (Springfield) had a dominating performance, which led to a 13-stroke victory. Bowman’s round consisted of one birdie and two bogeys en route to a final round 73 and two-day total of 147.

Following behind Bowman was Tolton Catholic Junior, Kate Ryan (Columbia). Ryan fired an 80 in round two leading to a two-day total of 160. Ryan is set to continue her golf career at Coastal Carolina University. Rounding out the top three was Anna Bell (Poplar Bluff). Bell shot 82 in the final round, earning herself her second top three finish in MGA events this season. Bell was the youngest competitor in the field at 13 years old.

Next up for the Missouri Golf Association Junior schedule is the MJT Eldon on June 4th followed by the MGA Kansas City Classic at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex on June 5th and 6th.

The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf throughout the State of Missouri. The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship. Four founding clubs would be the ones in existence in St. Louis in those early years – St. Louis Country Club, Algonquin Golf Club, Glen Echo Golf Club and Normandie Golf Club. Four years later, the invite-only Missouri Amateur was held in Kansas City at Evanston Club. 1911 marked the real organization of the MGA with Bonner Miller as Secretary and Executive Director. Ever since then, the MGA has striven to provide tournaments and spaces for Missouri golfers to sharpen their skills and enjoy the game.
