Bowman Leads MGA Girls’ Shootout

April 20, 2024

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Round one of the inaugural MGA Girls’ Shootout concluded today, April 20, 2024, at Jefferson City Country Club. The event drew 31 of the state’s best junior girls, ages 13 to 18.

After the first round, Page Bowman (Springfield), paced the field with a 2-over par, 74. Bowman maintained a clean scorecard, which consisted of one birdie and three bogeys. The Springfield native is a sophomore at Glendale High School and is the 2023 MSHSAA Class 4 State Champion.

Five shots behind Bowman is Anna Bell (Poplar Bluff) with a first-round score of 79. Bell is the youngest player in the field and finished 3rd place earlier this year at the MGA Girls’ Spring Kickoff. Sitting in a tied for third place is Hanna Maschhoff (Lake Ozark) and Kate Ryan (Columbia) who both shot 80 in round one. Maschhoff is competing in her last junior season with the MGA as she will start the PGM Program at Mississippi State University in the Fall. Ryan has recently committed to playing collegiate golf at Coastal Carolina University.

Play will resume tomorrow with tee times starting at 12:30 p.m. After all players have finished 18 holes, the winners will be named, and awards will be given.

The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship. Four years later, the invite-only Missouri Amateur was held in Kansas City at Evanston Club. 1911 marked the real organization of the MGA with Bonner Miller as Secretary and Executive Director. Ever since then, the MGA has striven to provide tournaments and spaces for Missouri golfers to sharpen their skills and enjoy the game.
