HOLLISTER, Mo. (August 6, 2024) – The Missouri Golf Association concluded its only two-day Senior Series event of the season at Ozarks National and Buffalo Ridge, two premier courses within Big Cedar Lodge’s celebrated nature golf collection. Held on August 5-6, the tournament featured senior competition amidst southwest Missouri.
Ozarks National, a par-71, 7,036-yard course designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, highlights the Ozarks terrain with its challenging layout and standout features. Golfers experienced breathtaking views and a variety of visually appealing approach shots, including a notable 400-foot wooden bridge spanning a 60-foot creek on the 13th hole.
Buffalo Ridge, also a par-71 course, has been transformed by conservationist Johnny Morris and architect Tom Fazio to immerse players in the nature of the Ozarks. Known for its native grasses, natural rock formations, and scenic water features—including lakes, waterfalls, and free-ranging bison from nearby Dogwood Canyon Nature Park—Buffalo Ridge offers a unique golfing experience.
Both courses are part of Big Cedar Lodge’s nature golf collection, which aims to connect people with nature through world-class golf experiences. Founded by Bass Pro Shops’ Johnny Morris, Big Cedar Lodge features five courses designed by golf legends such as Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Gary Player, Tom Fazio, Bill Coore, and Ben Crenshaw. The sprawling property near Branson, Missouri, offers luxury accommodations and a variety of outdoor activities.
Senior Series events are open to male golfers who are members of the MGA and are 50 years of age or older. Competitors are divided into flights based on their age as of April 22, 2024.
In the 50-54 Open division, Tod Rose (West Plains) claimed first place with a total score of 3-over, 145 (73-72), including six birdies over the two days.
David Pfeil (Eureka) topped the 55-59 Open division with a score of 1-under, 141 (69-72), featuring four birdies and one double bogey in the first round.
Tim Holmes (Springfield) won the 60-64 Open division with a score of 3-over, 145 (78-67), including five birdies and just one bogey in his second round.
Benjamin Lampert (Springfield) secured first place in the 65-69 Open division with a score of 12-over, 154 (78-76), making five birdies over the two rounds.
Anthony Brown (St. Louis) won the 70+ Open division with a score of 7-over, 149 (73-76), including four birdies across both rounds.
In the net divisions, where handicap strokes are deducted from the final scores, Dan Campbell (Jefferson City) led the 50-58 Net flight with a score of 5-over, 147 (76-71).
The 59-64 Net division saw a tie between George Barkho (Fulton) (69-75) and Tony Farris (Fulton) (71-73), both finishing at 2-over, 144.
Jerry Pyatt (Sunrise Beach) won the 65-69 Net flight with a score of 4-under, 138 (67-71).
Jan Skola (Camdenton) took first place in the 70-74 Net division with a score of 2-over, 144 (71-73).
Charles Kaiser (Jefferson City) won the 75+ Net group with a score of 7-over, 149 (73-76).

The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship.
