Johnston Duo Captures Missouri Four-Ball Championship; Schnieders and Jones Win Net Title in Playoff

August 16, 2026

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (August 16, 2026) – Jeffrey Johnston and Timothy Johnston of St. Joseph completed a wire-to-wire victory Sunday at the 2026 Missouri Four-Ball Championship, finishing at 22-under-par 120 to capture the Championship Division at St. Joseph Country Club. In the Net Division, Phil Schnieders and Scott Jones of Jefferson City emerged from a three-team tie to claim the title following a five-hole playoff.

Sunday’s final round got off to a delayed start after thunderstorms moved through the St. Joseph area during the morning. The first tee times were pushed back one hour to 8:30 a.m. Once the storms cleared, overcast skies and moderate temperatures remained for the rest of the championship.

The Johnstons entered Sunday with a three-stroke advantage after opening the championship with a 12-under-par 59 on Saturday, a round they capped with an eagle on the 18th hole. The St. Joseph duo continued its strong play in the final round, carding a 10-under-par 61 to finish the championship at 22-under 120.

With challengers looking to close the gap, the Johnstons put the tournament away over the closing nine holes. They played their final nine in 6-under par to secure a three-stroke victory and complete rounds of 59 and 61.

Aiden Asby of Bolivar and Hunter Jowers of Jonesboro made a final-round charge of their own, firing the lowest round of the day with an 11-under-par 60. Their two-day total of 19-under 123 earned them runner-up honors.

Three teams shared third at 16-under-par 126. Kory Franks and Brad Carpenter posted rounds of 64 and 62, Brad Nurski and Tom Buffington finished with consecutive 63s, and Lawson Barks and Landon Barks followed an opening 62 with a final-round 64.

The Net Division produced an even more dramatic finish, with Reid Atha and Brooks Schoeneck of St. Joseph, Schnieders and Jones, and Chris Rackers and Matt Clement of Jefferson City all completing 36 holes at 10-under-par 132.

Two of those teams made late charges just to earn their places in the playoff. Atha and Schoeneck closed regulation with consecutive net birdies, while Rackers and Clement finished net eagle, net birdie to join the three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard.

The three teams returned to the first hole to begin the playoff, and the battle for the Net Division championship continued for five holes before Schnieders and Jones ultimately emerged as champions.

Clement’s weekend also included one of the championship’s most memorable moments. During Saturday’s opening round, he recorded a hole-in-one on the par-3 13th hole.

Missouri Golf extends its sincere appreciation to the staff at St. Joseph Country Club for their hospitality and efforts in hosting the 2026 Missouri Four-Ball Championship.
