JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (July 23, 2025) – Championship Wednesday brought 36 holes of pressure-packed golf at Jefferson City Country Club, where Adam Pfeiffer (Quincy) emerged victorious to claim the 28th Missouri Stroke Play Championship.

Pfeiffer posted rounds of 68 and 73 on the final day to finish at 9-under-par 279, edging out a competitive field that included both collegiate players and mid-ams. After going bogey-free in round one and gradually climbing the leaderboard with a second-round 70, Pfeiffer began today tied for third.

He stayed steady through the morning 18 with a 4-under 68, and though his final-round 73 featured few highlights early on, he delivered when it mattered most. After going birdie-free through 12 holes in the afternoon, Pfeiffer drained key birdie putts on holes 13 and 16, pulling further ahead in his pairing alongside Carsen Silliman (Jackson) and Brooks Baldwin (Warrensburg).

The turning point came on the par-4 16th hole, where Pfeiffer rolled in a crucial birdie while Silliman made bogey after failing to convert his par save. Baldwin also birdied the hole, pulling ahead of Silliman and securing solo second place.

Pfeiffer, the reigning Missouri Mid-Amateur Champion, now adds a Stroke Play title to his resume, both won at Jefferson City Country Club. He becomes the only player on record to hold both titles at the same time, and will have a chance to defend his mid-amateur crown when the event returns to JCCC this August.

Baldwin finished at 7-under 281 after rounds of 68, 69, 72 and 72. The University of Central Missouri golfer recorded just three bogeys across 36 holes today, continuing a consistent run throughout the championship.

Silliman, who held the 36-hole lead after rounds of 67 and 69, finished third at 6-under 282 after an up-and-down closing stretch that included five birdies and six bogeys in his final round. The Southern Illinois University graduate was in contention throughout the day but couldn’t match Pfeiffer’s late-round steadiness.

This marks Pfeiffer’s first Missouri Stroke Play Championship and his second MGA title at JCCC in under a year, having won the 2024 Missouri Mid-Amateur Championship at the same venue. A three-time mid-am champion at Jefferson City Country Club, Pfeiffer continues to add to an already impressive career.

Only 11 players finished under par for the tournament. The cut after 36 holes came at 5-over-par, with 51 players advancing to the final day.

The Missouri Golf Association thanks Jefferson City Country Club for its outstanding hospitality and course conditions throughout the week.

Carsen Silliman (Jackson) holds the solo lead at 8-under-par 136 through two rounds. After carding a 67 in the first round, the recent Southern Illinois University graduate followed it up with a steady 69 that included four birdies and just one bogey.

One shot behind is Brooks Baldwin (Warrensburg) at 7-under 137. Baldwin, who recently completed his senior season at the University of Central Missouri, recorded five birdies and only one blemish—a double bogey on No. 17—during his second-round 69.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (July 21, 2025) – After a rain delay pushed back the start of play by five hours, the opening round of the 28th Missouri Stroke Play Championship finally got underway this afternoon at Jefferson City Country Club.

Originally scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m., tee times were delayed until 12:30 p.m. due to storms and course conditions. While the morning wave of players was able to complete their rounds, a portion of the afternoon field will return tomorrow morning to finish before the start of round two.

Despite the disrupted schedule, several players took advantage of the later scoring conditions.

Carsen Silliman (Jackson) carded a 5-under-par 67 to take the provisional clubhouse lead. He posted a bogey-free back nine and racked up seven birdies on the day.

Just one stroke back, Derek Reynolds (Springfield) and Kevin Kring (Springfield) each posted 4-under 68s to tie for second. Reynolds turned in a bogey-free round with four birdies, while Kring went bogey-free through his first 12 holes and held steady to finish strong.

Julian Taylor (Kansas City) sits at 3-under 69 after his first round, currently tied for fourth with Brooks Baldwin (Warrensburg), Alex Hogan (Leawood), Brett Bailey (Monett) and Will Boyd (California)—all of whom have yet to complete their rounds.

This is just the second time Jefferson City Country Club has hosted the Stroke Play Championship. The par-72 layout mixed with unfavorable weather conditions is proving to be a fair but demanding test for the state’s amateur golfers.

Play will resume tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. to complete round one before the full field begins Round 2. After 36 holes, the field will be cut to the low 40 scores and ties for Wednesday’s 36-hole finale.
