SEDALIA, Mo. (July 15, 2025) — Charlotte Stafford (Wildwood) and Caroline Ware (Wildwood) claimed top honors at the Missouri Golf Association’s 2025 Ladies Series event, held today at Sedalia Country Club.

The duo posted a 1-over-par 71 in the unique 6-6-6 format — six holes of best ball, six of alternate shot and six of scramble — to take first place overall and win the A flight. Stafford and Ware tallied three birdies during their round to edge out Mia Rooney (Kirkwood) and Emilia Brown (St. Albans), who finished second at 2-over 72.

Two teams tied for third at 4-over: Barbara Blankenship (Jefferson City) and Sophie Hinds (Jefferson City), and Kathy Beykirch (Sedalia) and Brenda Ward (Sedalia).

In the B flight, local players Sherry Kempton (Sedalia) and Julie Bochat (Holts Summit) secured the win with a 9-over 79. Susan Van Horn (Sedalia) and Cindy Schroeder (Marshall) finished one shot back at 10-over, while Carol Stockwood (Sedalia) and Marcia Azan (Sedalia) rounded out the top three at 11-over.

This was the only Ladies Series event hosted by the MGA in 2025. The tournament welcomed 20 players (10 teams) and featured a shotgun start at 10 a.m.

ABOUT MGA: The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the best interests and true spirit of golf throughout the state of Missouri.

Founded in 1905 in St. Louis, the MGA was established to conduct the Missouri Amateur Championship, originally hosted by four founding clubs—St. Louis Country Club, Algonquin Golf Club, Glen Echo Golf Club, and Normandie Golf Club. In 1909, the invite-only championship expanded to Kansas City’s Evanston Club, and by 1911, the MGA became formally organized under Bonner Miller, its first Secretary and Executive Director. Since then, the MGA has grown to provide a variety of competitive tournaments, junior programs, and resources that support golfers of all ages and skill levels, continuing its mission to grow and enhance the game across Missouri.
