JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Jan 25, 2024) – The Missouri Golf Association has established new point tables and created a new selection process for the Southern Junior Cup Matches and the Junior Girls’ Four State events in the 2024 season.

In 2024, the MGA will select the six Girls Four State players and 12 Southern Junior Cup players according to the following guidelines:

  1. The two highest point earners will earn automatic bids to the Four State and Southern Junior Cup. You can view the point allocation table HERE
  2. The Junior Match Play and Junior Amateur Champions will earn an automatic bid to both events.
  3. There will be two captain’s picks for each event based on MGA tournament involvement, performance and ability to be a team player.

MGA Junior Golf Director Reese Hamilton will serve as captain for these events and will choose additional alternate players if necessary.

Missouri is hosting this year’s Junior Girls Four State at Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield from July 1-2. The Southern Junior Cup will be at RTJ Golf Trail at Muscle Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Alabama from July 31-Aug. 1.

The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship. Four founding clubs would be the ones in existence in St. Louis in those early years – St. Louis Country Club, Algonquin Golf Club, Glen Echo Golf Club and Normandie Golf Club. Four years later, the invite-only Missouri Amateur was held in Kansas City at Evanston Club. 1911 marked the real organization of the MGA with Bonner Miller as Secretary and Executive Director. Ever since then, the MGA has striven to provide tournaments and spaces for Missouri golfers to sharpen their skills and enjoy the game.
