Final Recap

NEW BLOOMFIELD, Mo. (Oct. 3, 2023) – Today, the Missouri Golf Association’s Senior Series Tour concluded with the Senior Series Tour Championship at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield. Senior golfers earned points at Senior Series events throughout the season to qualify for this championship. 

The second round of stroke play took place today with 65 golfers competing. Play began with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.

Brad Thielemier (Poplar Bluff) was the only competitor in the 50-54 Open flight. He finished with a score of 14 over, 158 (77, 81).

David Pfeil (Eureka) won the 55-59 Open division, shooting three over, 147 (71, 76). Bobby Godwin (Poplar Bluff) placed second at eight over, 152 (78, 74), and Dan Kelley (Chesterfield) shot 10 over, 154 (75, 79) for third place.

The 60-64 Open flight saw David Rudd (Wildwood) as its champion with a score of three over, 147 (73, 74). Steve Groom (Raytown) followed in second at eight over, 152 (76, 76). There was a tie for third between Brett Allen (Columbia) and John Gafner (Springfield), both shooting 13 over, 157.

Dennis Osborne (Ballwin) secured the win in the 65-69 Open flight with a score of 13 over, 157 (79, 78). Bobby McKay (Joplin) and Tony Brown (St. Louis) tied for second place, both shooting 16 over, 160.

Don Kuehn (Kansas City) was the champion of the 70+ Open division, shooting one over, 145 (73, 72) over two rounds. Robert Trittler (Wentzville) was the runner-up at four over, 148 (77, 71), and David Newberry (Crossett) finished in third with a score of 10 over, 154 (76, 78).

The following net flights have handicap strokes deducted from final scores.

In the 50-54 Net flight, Steven Cameron (Miller) had the lowest score at seven under, 137 (71, 66). Tim Borman (Kingdom City) shot four under, 140 (72, 68) for second place, and Jeff Brown (Sunrise Beach) rounded out the podium in third at two over, 146 (71, 75).

Russ Fees (Dadeville) was the winner of the 59-64 Net division, shooting five over, 149 (71, 78). George Barkho (Fulton) took second place with a score of eight over, 152 (78, 74) and Tony Farris (Hermann) placed third at 10 over, 154 (79, 75).

Terry Farmer (Warrensburg) won the 65-69 Net flight with a total score of three over, 147 (71, 76). Stephen Maier (Jefferson City) followed in second at six over, 150 (76, 74), and there was a tie for third between Arnold Bailey (Linn) and Bob Rugen (Fulton), both of whom shot seven over, 151.

The 70-74 Net division saw Garret Anielak (Hermann) as its winner with a winning score of three under, 141 (73, 68). William Hubble (Jefferson City) earned second place at one under, 143 (71, 72), and Lee Larscheid (Kansas City) took home third at six over, 150 (80, 70).

Finally, Charles Kaiser (Jefferson City) won the 75+ Net group with a score of three over, 147 (75, 72). Jim Hallar (Holden) came in second place, shooting 15 over, 159 (84, 75), and Bob White (Walnut Grove) took third place at 18 over, 162 (84, 78).

Day 1 Recap

NEW BLOOMFIELD, Mo. (Oct. 2. 2023) – Today, the first round of the Senior Series Tour Championship was held at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield. In total, 66 golfers teed off this afternoon to compete for the championship title.

The Senior Series Tour began in 2006 to provide male amateur golfers over the age of 50 to compete in events across the State. The players accumulate points throughout the season to qualify for this championship and the Ozark Cup Matches against Kansas Senior Series Tour Teams.

Play started today with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start.

Brad Thielemier (Poplar Bluff) is the sole competitor in the 50-54 Open flight. He shot five over, 77, in the first round.

David Pfeil (Eureka) is leading the 55-59 Open flight at one under, 71. Two golfers are tied for second place at three over, 75: Dan Kelley (Chesterfield) and Dan Luebbert (Holts Summit). 

David Rudd (Wildwood) is on top of the 60-64 Open flight with a score of one over, 73, with Steve Groom (Raytown) following at 4 over, 76. Brett Allen (Columbia) is in third at five over, 77.

In the 65-69 Open division, Bobby McKay (Joplin) is in first place at six over, 78. In second is Dennis Osborne (Ballwin) at seven over, 79, and Russ Trippensee (Jefferson City) is in third with a score of eight over, 80.

Two players are tied for first place in the 50-58 Net flight after the first round at one under, 71: Jeff Brown (Sunrise Beach) and Steven Cameron (Miller). And Tim Borman (Kingdom City) rounds out the top three in third at even par, 72.

Russ Fees (Dadeville) is leading the 59-64 Net flight at one under, 71, with Shawn May (Columbia) behind in second at five over, 77. George Barkho (Fulton) is next in line at six over, 78.

In the 70-74 Net flight, William Hubble (Jefferson City) is leading at one under, 71. Garret Anielak (Hermann) is in second with a score of one over, 73, and there is a tie for third between Daric Elwell (Warrensburg) and Terry Souchek (Columbia), both of whom shot six over, 78.

And lastly, the 75+ Net flight is being led by Charles Kaiser (Jefferson City) with a score of three over, 75. Michael Scoles (St. Charles) is following in second at seven over, 79. Jim Hallar (Holden) and Bob White (Walnut Grove) are tied for third, both shooting 12 over, 84.

The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf throughout the State of Missouri. The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship.
