HOLLISTER, Mo. (Aug. 15, 2023) – Today, the second round of a two-day Senior Series Event was held at Buffalo Ridge Course at Big Cedar Lodge in Hollister. Starting with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, 89 senior golfers competed for the winning title in their age division. Their scores from day one of the event at Ozarks National Golf Course yesterday carried over to today’s play.

Senior Series events are open to male golfers who are members of the MGA and 50 years of age or older. Competitors compete in flights based on their age as of April 17, 2023. 

Tod Rose (West Plains) won the 50-54 Open flight with a total score of one under, 141 (72, 69).

In the 55-59 Open flight, David Pfeil (Eureka) was the winner with a gross score of six over, 148 (73, 75).

Steve Groom (Raytown) was the champion of the 60-64 Open division, shooting six over, 148 (73, 75) over two days.

Dennis Osborne (Ballwin) had two consistent rounds and finished even par, 142 (71, 71), to win the 65-69 Open division.

And there was a tie for first between two players in the 70+ Open flight, both finishing with scores of nine over, 151: Ron Eilers (Columbia) (74, 77) and Robert Trittler (Wentzville) (77, 74).

The following net flights have handicap strokes deducted from final scores.

Doug Grooms (Camdenton) won the 50-58 Net flight at one over, 143 (73, 70).

In the 59-64 Net division, Gary Eggen (Jefferson City) was the leader at four over, 146 (72, 74).

Dave Pingel (Hartsburg) led the 65-69 Net flight with a final score of one over, 143 (72, 71).

The 70-74 Net division saw Marvin Frazier (Festus) as its winner with a score of 14 over, 156 (79, 77).

Finally, Gerald Oney (Walnut Shade) was the champion of the 75+ Net flight, shooting five over, 147 (73, 74).

Golfers teed off with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. This is a two day event, with today’s scores carrying over to tomorrow.

Leading the 50-54 Open flight, Tod Rose (West Plains) shot one over par, 72. 

The front runner of the 55-59 Open flight is David Pfeil (Eureka) at two over, 73.

Steve Groom (Raytown) is in first in the 60-64 Open flight at two over, 73. 

Dennis Osborne (Ballwin) is winning the 65-69 Open flight after shooting par, 71.

In the 70+ Open flight, Ron Eilers (Columbia) is currently on top at three over, 74.

The following net flights have handicap strokes deducted from final scores.

Mike Domenick (Festus) shot par, 71, in the first round to lead the 50-58 Net division.

In the 59-64 Net flight, Gary Eggen (Jefferson City) is leading at one over, 72.

Jerry Pyatt (Sunrise Beach) and Dave Pingel (Hartsburg) are tied for first in the 65-69 Net flight, both shooting one over, 72.

William Hubble (Jefferson City) is the leader of the 70-74 Net division at seven over, 78.

Lastly, the 75+ Net flight has Gerald Oney (Walnut Shade) as its current leader at two over, 73.
