MISSOURI AMATEUR ALTERNATE SELECTION PROCESS

Two players will qualify as first and second alternate from each qualifying site.

No Alternate will be selected through “last chance” qualifier.

Qualifying site nearest the tournament site shall be in the first position for selection.

Other sites will be selected using a “blind draw” which will be recorded and available.

Selection process will utilize a site/position rotation.

Example:

Position #1 First Alternate from closest site

Position #2 First Alternate from first “drawn site”

Position #3 First Alternate from second “drawn site”

Position #4 First Alternate from third “drawn site”

Position #5 Second Alternate from closest site

Position #6 Second Alternate from first “drawn site”

ETC…

Once drawing is complete, list of players and positions will be published on the MGA Website and updated as changes occur.

MGA will contact players on rotation as positions become available up until 1 day before the first round. MGA will email, text and call players simultaneously. Players have 12 hours from MGA notification to confirm their place in the field. It is the PLAYERS’ responsibility to respond to the notification.  Failure to reply within 12 hours results in forfeiting of player position.

DAY OF POLICY

Should a player be on the alternate list, but not have gained a spot in the field by the day of the first round, the following shall apply:

Player must be ON SITE no later than 1 hour before the FIRST tee time.

It is the player’s responsibility to physically check in with MGA staff upon arrival. Upon check in, player will notify MGA of preferred notification method. MGA takes no responsibility for player not receiving nor replying to notification.

Rotation of alternates will be same as above, among those alternates who check in 1 hour before first tee time.

MARKER POLICY

Should no players be on site as alternates, and a player withdraws, MGA will at the request of remaining players ATTEMPT to find another player to serve as a “marker” for the group. The marker shall have no standing in the tournament and are only there for pace of play.
