The two women representing Missouri at the 60th U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur won their first round matches on Aug. 1, 2022.

Ellen Port (St. Louis) and Christie Blasi (Ozark) are currently competing in the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur at Anchorage Golf Course in Alaska. After winning their first match, Port and Blasi are two of 32 players left vying for the title.

Seven-time USGA champion Port took on Marianne Towersey from Pebble Beach, California in her match yesterday. Port ended up winning with a score of 5 and 3. This win extended Port’s perfect record in Round-of-64 matches at the U.S. Senior Amateur to 10-0. 

Port will take on Sally Krueger from San Francisco, California on Aug. 2 at 11:10 a.m. CST

Blasi played a tight match with Jackie Little from Canada on Aug. 1 in the Round-of-64 match. Blasi and Little spent most of the match tied, until Blasi pulled ahead at 1 up on hole 9, and kept her lead the rest of the match. She finished with a winning score of 1 up.

Blasi will take on Kay Daniel from Covington, Louisiana on Aug. 2 at 11 a.m. CST in the Round-of-32 match.\
