KIRKWOOD, Mo. —The second and final round of the 2022 Missouri Junior Amateur Championship at Greenbriar Hills Country Club in Kirkwood, Mo. took place today. Congratulations to Ella Overstreet and Teagen Hull on shooting the low scores of the championship and being crowned the 2022 Missouri Junior Amateur Champions! 

At the top of the leaderboard on the boys’ side, the 2022 Missouri Junior Amateur Male champion is Teagen Hull (Eldon). After shooting two over par, 73, during round one, he took control on the back nine during the second round sinking two birdies to claim the lead and finish the round at an even par. He finished with a total gross score of 144, two over par. After shooting one under during yesterday’s round, Luke McLaughlin (St. Louis) shot four over par, 75 during round two and took home second place. McLaughlin birdied four holes during the second round, to bring his total score to 145. We have a tie for third place in the 16-18 Male flight; Ben Slicker and Jack Spencer both shot 146, four over par. Spencer had an excellent front nine with two birdies, but struggled a bit on the back during round two. Slicker sat right around par throughout both rounds before bogeying a couple holes to set him back to two over on both the first and second rounds. 

In the boys’ 14-15 division, Jaxon Bailey (Monett) held onto his lead from the first round to win the flight. He shot eight over par, 150. Bailey struggled a bit more during the second round, but pulled through to his first place finish with a birdie on the front and back. Just one stroke behind him is Ben Gelven (St. Louis) at nine over par, 151. Gelven had an excellent front nine during the second round; he sunk three birdies to help push him to his second place finish. Shooting 11 over par, 153, is Anson Munzlinger (Columbia). Munzligner played a solid two rounds, shooting +5 during round one and +6 during the second. 

Joining them at the top of their respective leaderboards is Isaah Kandula (Chesterfield) in the boys 12-13 division. Kandula shot one under par, 70, to climb his leaderboard and tie for first with Riley Franklin (Ozark) with a score of 150 from the two rounds. Franklin led the flight after the first round at +3; he shot +5 today. After the play-off on hole 18, Kandula made par to win the flight and Franklin made bogey to place second. In third, with a total score of 151, is Cooper Toalson (Eldon). 

Playing 9 holes and winning the 10-11 Male flight is Colin Hoffmann (Maryville) at 13 over par, 85. Hoffmann shot seven over par during round two of the championship. On hole seven, Hoffmann made a long putt to score a birdie and seal his fate as the low scorer for the 10-11 Male flight. Blane Munzlinger shot seven over during round two of the championship, bringing his total score to 18 over par, 90, and taking second place. 

In the 8-9 Male flight, with a stunning one over par, 73, is Kason Fiehtner (Poplar Bluff). Fiehtner shot one under par during round two with a chip in on hole six to score an eagle. With two birdies and three bogeys, Fiehtner brought home first place. Hunter Brown (Washington) was right behind him at three over par, for 75 total. Brown shot two birdies during his round of nine to shoot one over par during round two and take second place. 

On the girls’ side, Ella Overstreet (Jackson) is the 2022 Missouri Junior Amateur Champion. Overstreet was tied for first with the low score going into the second round of stroke play. She birdied three holes during her round to pull ahead of her competition. Overstreet led her flight and all female divisions at the start of the back nine and kept the lead until the end.  Lyla Louderbaugh (Buffalo) shot five over par during the second round to bring her total gross score to 151 and place second overall and in the 16-18 Female flight. Bailey Burkett (Kansas City) shot two over par, 73, during round two to soar up the leaderboard with a total gross score of 11 over par, 153. Burkett made three birdies and shot seven less strokes during round two than round one to bring home third place. 

In the 14-15 female flight, KC Lenox (Saint Peters) placed first after leading her division through the final round of 18.  Lenox started off strong with two birdies on the front nine and continued her success on the back with another birdie. She finished 15 over par, for 157, after the two rounds of stroke play. Avery McLaughlin (Town and Country) placed second at 18 over par, 160. McLaughlin made four birdies during her second round of stroke play. Page Bowman (Springfield) shot 21 over par, 163, during the two rounds, bringing home third place.

Bringing home the gold in the 12-13 Female flight is Haven Evers (Eldon). She shot +33 during round two, to bring her total score after both rounds to an even 200.

KIRKWOOD, Mo. — Round 1 of the 2022 Missouri Junior Amateur Championship has been completed at Greenbriar Hills Country Club in Kirkwood, Mo.

At the top of the leaderboard on the boys’ side, Luke McLaughlin (St. Louis) is the only male to shoot under par in the first round of the Missouri Junior Amateur. McLaughlin sat around par throughout the 18 holes, but he sealed the deal with back-to-back birdies on the final two holes to finish one under par, 70. He was neck and neck with John Guerra (St. Louis) who shot an even par, 71. Guerra held the lead into the 17th hole at -1, until he bogeyed 17 and made par on 18. 

In the boy’s 14-15 division, Jaxon Bailey (Monett) holds a three shot lead over his opponents at two over par, 73. Bailey had an impressive front nine; he sunk three birdies to go into the turn at -1. Anson Munzlinger (Columbia), Ben Belven (St. Louis), and Noah Naugle (Nixa) all shot five over par, 76, for a three-way tie for second going into the second round tomorrow. 

Joining them at the top of their respective leaderboards are Riley Franklin (Ozark) at three over par, 74, in the 12-13 Male flight. Playing 9 holes and leading the 10-11 Male flight is Colin Hoffmann (Maryville) at six over par, 42. Finally, we have a tie for the lead in the 8-9 Male flight at two over par, 42, between Hunter Brown (Washington) and Kason Fiehtner (Poplar Bluff).  

On the girls’ side, there is a tie for the lead in the 16-18 division at four over par, 75, between Lyla Louderbaugh (Buffalo) and Ella Overstreet (Jackson). Louderbaugh made three birdies on the front half to lead the flight through the first nine. Overstreet struggled a bit on the front nine, shooting two bogeys and a double bogey; she turned her game around on the back nine with two birdies to tie for the lead. 

In the 14-15 female flight, KC Lenox (Saint Peters) is leading the pack with a score of six over par, 77. Lenox started off strong with two birdies on the front nine and kept her lead over her opponents throughout the rest of the round. Avery McLaughlin (Town and Country) and Page Bowman (Springfield) both shot 10 over par, 81, to tie for second after the first round of stroke play. 

​​All golfers will play in round two of stroke play tomorrow at Greenbriar Hills. Tee times will begin at 7:30 a.m. and go until 2:30 p.m. All golfers will tee off on hole one.
