SUNRISE BEACH — Central Missouri’s Thomas Henson (Hermann) leads the field at the 114th Missouri Amateur Championship at The Club at Porto Cima after two rounds of stroke play. Henson shot 5-under Tuesday to catapult to 4-under for the tournament.

He will be followed in the 64-man match play seeding by Maxwell Kreikemeier (Chesterfield) who sits at 3-under for the tournament after shooting 2-under in Round 2. Kreikemeier was the runner up in the 2020 Missouri Amateur Championship.

Henson and Kreikemeier are two of just four players that will finish stroke play in red figures, as Porto Cima proved to be tough for the field. The cut will be set at 11-over 155 to cut the field down to its 64 match-play qualifiers. Following the second round, nine players competed for just five spots.

The remainder of the week will consist of bracketed match play, which will culminate in a 36-hole final match on Sunday to determine the tournament champion.
