The iconic Two-Lady Scramble began in 1999 when Ronnie Burg and Cindy Hauter won at Lake Valley Golf & Country Club in Camdenton. The tournament has grown tremendously throughout the years with over 1,500 competitors playing at nearly 12 clubs across Missouri.
The Missouri Golf Association hosted this year’s 19th annual Two-Lady Scramble at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club, where 100 women participated in two days of 18-hole competition from May 23-24. The tournament met much success, as it was the first year the Two-Lady Scramble has been held at Meadow Lake Country Club.
The Two-Lady Scramble has welcomed many familiar faces over the years. Among the many female golfers, Vicki Long, Mindy Coyle and Stephanie Priesmeyer have taken the lead with four championship titles. Coyle and Priesmeyer teamed up three of those years to come out on top. The duo won the 2016 Two-Lady Scramble.
This year’s tournament kicked off on Tuesday, May 23 with an 18-hole scramble, consisting of five flights. Following day one, the golfers were invited to attend a player reception. In the championship division, Emily Goldenstein and Elizabeth Leath (pictured left) won, shooting 18 under par total. Marianne Ferris and Cathy Carter carded 1 under par in the A flight, Karen Shippy and Alane Studley posted 7 over par in the B Flight and Cindy Howter and Lea Gorg shot 11 over in the C Flight. There was a tie in the D flight between Carole Carpenter and Judy Tindall, and Nancie Duncan and Janice Ohmes; both teams posting 26 over par. The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf throughout the State of Missouri. The MGA conducts several statewide championships each year, including the Two-Lady Scramble. The MGA distributes an annual schedule of tournament events and entry forms for each event. Provides advice and information for golf, handicap and rules chairpersons, and provides educational seminars.
