The Missouri Golf Association’s 16th annual Stroke Play Championship will take place on July 15-17th at Meadowbrook Country Club in Ballwin.  This will be the second time that Meadowbrook will be the host of the Stroke Play Championship.

The field of 156 players will be very competitive with several past MGA Champions playing.  The 2012 Stroke Play Champion, Brad Nurski of St. Joseph, returns to try and defend his title.  Nurski won the Stroke Play at Jefferson City Country Club by eleven strokes after finishing with a four round total of 277.  The field also includes two other past Stroke Play Champions.  Wayne Fredrick of  Springfield won in 2001 at Porto Cima and Bobby Godwin of Poplar Bluff was champion at Hillcrest in 1999.  Another champion competing at the tournament is the current 2013 Missouri Amateur Champion Joey Johnson.

Meadowbrook Country Club will be a challenging venue with strategically placed bunkers and hazards which brings risk versus reward into play.  The course will play at 6964 yards with a par of 72.  The first two days of the event will be 18 holes of stroke play competition in order to qualify for the top 50 spots.  The final day of competition will be on Wednesday, July 17 and will consist of 36 holes of stroke play.
