MEGAN KECK from Sedalia is the very first Female Junior Player of Year in MGA history! Megan has been playing in MGA Junior events for many years and has had some impressive finishes.

Here are Megan’s accomplishments for 2012 that got her this prestigious recognition.

Megan is a member of the MGA Hieronymus Series. The 2012 series is made up of 8 (1) day events across the State. Megan competed in 5 of those where she earned enough points to be invited to compete in the HJS Championship at Tanglewood Golf Course in August. She was the champion of the 16-18 year olds with a score of 79 (7 over par). Vicki Taylor finishes in second with an 85 (13 over par). view all results

Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville is considered a favorite among the Junior players. This is where she finished in 3rd at the Junior Amateur. 83/85 168 (24 over) behind Champion, Taylor Black, Warrensburg 77/78 155 (11 over) and Runner-Up Mia Tovkach, Kansas City 81/85 166 (22 over). view all results.

Then in 2012 the MGA opened up the Junior Match Play to all females junior amateurs.

Another MGA inaugural event in 2012 was the Southern Junior State Cup aka Four State Junior Championship Cup Matches. The host for the inaugural event was the Arkansas State Golf Association. The Cup matches were held at Hot Springs Country Club in Hot Springs, Arkansas.  The States competing were Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, and Oklahoma.  Each team consisted of six male and six female junior golfers.

Representing the Missouri team for the males were: Miles Aduddell, Ian Barnes, Joey Johnson, Mitch Mather, Alec Palen, and Bailey Woods.  Jordan Chael, Brooke Cusumano, Taylor Hayes, Megan Keck, Laura Rowe, and Taylor Vick were the six females for Missouri.

The event started with a Four Ball and Foursome (alternate shot) matches on Saturday, and Individual Match play on Sunday.  The individual matches were girls competing against girls and boys against boys, while the Four Ball and Foursome matches consisted of a team with one male and one female. The Missouri team finished in 3rd. The emails the kids sent to Randy Bickel (MGA Director of Junior Golf) were heart warming.  “The tournament was so much fun! Probably the most fun I’ve ever had playing in a tournament.”
