Robert Willits 1918-2001
The MGA Board of Directors have installed Mr. Robert Willits into the MGA Hall of Fame. As you will see from his bio below he won the 1947 Missouri Amateur and played in the 1947 Masters. Interesting note – The professional winner Jimmy Demaret of the Masters that year won $2,500. The low amateur in 1947 tied for second with Byron Nelson. That was Frank Stranahan.
Willits will join the likes of Tom Watson, Payne Stewart, Ken Lanning and many many other great golfers in Missouri that have been inducted into the MGA Hall of Fame.
Mr. Willits family will join us in the Hall of Fame celebration in June 2013.
