The Missouri Women’s Golf Education Association (MWGEA) provides college scholarships to female high school seniors in Missouri. The scholarship looks to support females involved in the game of golf wishing to further their education.
Established in 1997 by the Missouri Women’s Golf Association, the Missouri Women’s Golf Education Association (MWGEA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting young women across Missouri through educational scholarships. The Missouri Women’s Golf Association merged with the Missouri Golf Association in 2017.
Through the generosity of Missouri Golf clubs and individual members, the MWGEA raises funds to provide educational opportunities for deserving young women across the state.
The MWGEA also awards scholarships honoring individuals whose contributions have made a lasting impact:
Mary Jane Landreth Scholarship: Named in recognition of Mary Jane Landreth’s generous support of the MWGEA.

Mary Jane Landreth was a dedicated advocate for women’s education and a valued member of the Missouri Women’s Golf Association. Her passion for creating educational opportunities extended beyond the golf community, as she personally supported scholarships for her nieces and nephews.
One of her greatest contributions was overseeing the incorporation of the Missouri Women’s Golf Education Association (MWGEA). Alongside her friend Jane Kelly, she personally funded the organization’s establishment and used her financial expertise to help secure its long-term success.
Mary Jane’s legacy continues through the Mary Jane Landreth Scholarship, awarded annually to a deserving young woman pursuing higher education.
Susan E. Shepherd was a determined and accomplished woman whose “I can do” spirit defined her success in both golf and business. An avid golfer, she was a member of the St. Louis Women’s District Golf Association, a club champion, and maintained a single-digit handicap.
After being widowed at age 50, Susan began a successful business career, earning recognition as Missouri’s top woman broker in 1980 and becoming Vice President of Sales at Stifel, Nicolaus and Co., Inc., where she was affectionately known as the “First Lady.”
Susan’s legacy continues through the Susan E. Shepherd Memorial Scholarship, awarded annually through a partnership between the Shepherd Foundation and MWGEA to support a young woman pursuing higher education.
