JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (July 18, 2025) – The 28th Missouri Stroke Play Championship returns to Jefferson City Country Club this week, bringing together 146 of the state’s top amateur male golfers for one of the biggest stroke play events on the Missouri Golf Association calendar.
Hosted July 21-23, the championship will feature 54 holes of stroke play, with a cut to the low 50 scores and ties after Tuesday’s second round. This marks the second time Jefferson City Country Club has hosted the Missouri Stroke Play Championship.
Among those vying for the 2025 title is defending champion Benjamin Berger (St. Charles), a standout player for the University of Missouri–St. Louis. Berger is joined in the field by past champion Christopher Obert (Springfield), who won in 2018 and is also looking to reclaim the title.
This year’s field includes a strong mix of veteran competitors, high-performing juniors and over 50 players currently on college golf rosters or committed to collegiate programs. Represented programs range from NCAA Division I powerhouses like Missouri State and Kansas to NAIA and junior colleges such as Evangel, William Woods and Columbia College.
Jefferson City and the surrounding area will be well represented, with 16 players hailing from the capital city, many of whom have competed in multiple MGA championships and junior events.
The youngest player in the field is just 15 years old, while the oldest is 64, underscoring the wide range of experience that defines Missouri amateur golf.
Tournament Schedule:
- Monday, July 21: First round – 18-hole stroke play (tee times begin at 7:30 a.m.)
- Tuesday, July 22: Second round – 18-hole stroke play (tee times begin at 7:30 a.m.)
- Wednesday, July 23: Final day – 36-hole finale (morning tee times at 8 a.m., final round tee times in the afternoon)
