MGA Introduces New USGA Exemptions for 2024

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Nov. 29, 2023) – The Missouri Golf Association will offer three new exemptions for national USGA events to MGA champions in the 2024 season. 

First, the winner of the 117th Missouri Amateur Championship will be exempt for the U.S. Amateur Golf Championship. The U.S. Amateur will be at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota from Aug. 12-18, 2024, and will have a field of 312 golfers.

Next, the 2024 Women’s Missouri Amateur Champion will be exempt for the U.S. Women’s Amateur. The U.S. Women’s Amateur will be at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma from Aug. 5-11, 2024; the field will consist of 156 golfers.

Finally, the female winner of the Junior Match Play Championship will be exempt for the U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur. The U.S. Girls’ Junior will be at El Caballero Country Club in Tarzana, California from July 15-20, 2024, and will have a field of 156 players.

These new exemptions will give Missouri golfers the opportunity to compete on a national level against some of the best amateur golfers in the country.

MGA members can register for all three events starting on March 5, 2024.

ABOUT MGA:

The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf throughout the State of Missouri. The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship. Four founding clubs would be the ones in existence in St. Louis in those early years – St. Louis Country Club, Algonquin Golf Club, Glen Echo Golf Club and Normandie Golf Club. Four years later, the invite-only Missouri Amateur was held in Kansas City at Evanston Club. 1911 marked the real organization of the MGA with Bonner Miller as Secretary and Executive Director. Ever since then, the MGA has striven to provide tournaments and spaces for Missouri golfers to sharpen their skills and enjoy the game.
