The Missouri Golf Association will host the 28th Annual Missouri Four Ball Championship August 12-13 at the Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
The Dalhousie Golf Club’s name is from a Scottish vernacular, and its specific tie to the to Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau originated with “The Early of Dalhousie” whose sister Rebecca Ramsay, settled the land upon which Dalhousie is now located. There is a direct connection between the Dalhousie Castle of Scotland and the 1,000 acre tract in Cape. On the 68 acres that remain private ownership stands a mansion, designed to emulate its ties to the Castle. It reminds golfers of the rich heritage and history that formed the cultural foundation on which the game was built.
The 2017 field will consist of 84 teams. The tournament will kick off with a practice round on Friday, August 11th. The first round of 18 hole Best Ball will be played on Saturday, August 12th followed by the second round of 18 hole Best Ball on Sunday, August 13th. There will be two flight; the Championship and Net flights, and the champion will be awarded with a traveling trophy for a year along with pro shop certificates.
The Entry Fee includes a practice round the day before the tournament, the Championship rounds, cart fees for the championship rounds only and range balls for three days.
The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf throughout the State of Missouri. The MGA conducts several statewide championships each year, including the Four Ball Championship. The MGA distributes an annual schedule of tournament events and entry forms for each event, provides advice and information for golf, handicap and rules chairpersons, and provides educational seminars.

2017 Men’s Four Ball Championship
The Missouri Golf Association hosted the final round of the 2017 Men’s Four Ball Championship today at the Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The players faced yet another day of beautiful weather with some minor rain in the afternoon, but the overall scores were much lower for round two.
Missouri State Bears’ golfers Kory Franks of Jefferson City and Brad Carpenter of Washington took the first place title today in the Championship Flight. The partners came out on top with an impressive overall score of 128 (65-63). Franks and Carpenter kicked off the day with one eagle, two birdies and five pars on the first eight holes and double bogeyed on the ninth. Their turning point came on the back nine when they managed to birdie the final six holes to earn the first place ranking.
Chad Niezing and Chris Dale took second place with an overall score of 130. The team was tied for first after round one with a 64 but fell short of the first place ranking after shooting a 66 today. They had 15 birdies, 20 pars and one bogey to complete the weekend.
Tony Gumper and Ryan Eckelkamp were also tied for first after round one but claimed third in the Championship Flight after carding a 67 today. Their overall score was 131. Gumper and Eckelkamp finished with one eagle, 12 birdies, 22 pars and one bogey.
In the Net Flight, David Eddy and Alexander Kanakis took the first place title with their overall score of 123 (63-60). The team had an eagle, four birdies and four pars on both the front and back nine.
Tom Dillon and Ron Uelk came in second after scoring a 62 today and 64 yesterday (126). They earned three eagles, 15 birdies, 15 pars and three bogeys between both rounds.
There was a tie for third place in the Net Flight between Kevin Long and David Diemer and Jay Higgins and Matthew Schnieders with a 130. Long and Diemer scored a 64 during round one and a 66 today while Higgins and Schnieders carded a 63 and 67.
The top nine teams earned pro shop payout at this weekend’s event.

2017 Men’s Four Ball Championship
Today marked the beginning of the 28th Annual Four Ball Championship at the Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The outstanding venue set the stage for an incredible day of golf filled with beautiful weather for the 64 participating groups. The day consisted of two waves; the morning and afternoon. The morning wave began at 7:30 followed by the afternoon wave at noon.
The Championship flight featured a number of familiar faces. Chad Niezing and Chris Dale are tied for first after day one with Tony Gumper and Ryan Eckelkamp with a score of 64 (8 under par). Niezing and Dale completed the day with a total of nine birdies, eight pars and one bogey while Gumper and Eckelkamp carded one eagle, six birdies and 11 pars.
Kory Franks and Brad Carpenter, both Missouri State Bears, follow closely behind in third with a 65 (7 under par). The duo managed nine birdies, seven pars and two bogeys.
There was another tie for fourth place between the 2016 champions, Brad Nurski and Brian Haskell and Ryan Sullivan and David Strickland with a 66 (6 under par). Nurski and Haskell parred the entire front nine before earning six birdies on the back nine. Sullivan and Strickland claimed eight birdies, eight pars and two bogeys on the day.
In the Net division, there is a three-way tie for first place among David Eddy and Alexander Kanakis, Jay Higgins and Matthew Schnieders and Scott Jones and Duane Schreimann with a 63.
Tyler Stalker had an impressive day after earning a hole-in-one on 13. He and his partner, Travis Mitchell, are tied for eighth with a 68 (4 under par).
The final round of the 2017 Men’s Four Ball Championship will be played tomorrow with the first tee time set at 7:30. The Championship flight will play in the morning wave and the Net division will play in the afternoon.
