2017 Missouri Junior Tour

The Missouri Golf Association was pleased to host the first-ever Missouri Junior Tour across Mid-Missouri. MGA invited all junior golfers, ages 8 to 18, to participate in the events. This summer, there were eight different events at seven courses. The courses included Rolling Hills Country Club, Deer Chase Golf Club, Oak Hills Golf Center, Eldon Country Club, Ken Lanning Golf Center, Tangelwood Golf Course and Lake Valley Golf & Country Club. The Junior Tour ended with a Championship at the Osage National Golf Club in Lake Ozark, MO. Juniors were invited to compete in this final event.

The overall male champion of the 2017 Junior Tour was Jack Rundle from Jefferson City, and the overall female champion was Amber Wilson of Camdenton.

In addition, an individual in each age division was awarded an overall points champion. There were a total of eight divisions, separated between male and female. The Season Points Champions were Sam Cornelius, Kyle Backes, Alex Gentry, Kassidy Hull, Logan Cox, Archer Schnieders, Talon Hull and Audrey Rischer.

The summer tour kicked off at the Rolling Hills Country Club in Versailles. Audrey Rischer won the Female 9-hole, Eli Herbert won the Male 8-9, Jonathan Jordan took first in the Male 10-11 and Graham Johnson won the Male 12-13. In the older divisions, 11-year-old, Lyla Louderbaugh, played up and won the Female 14-15, Christian Rischer won the Male 14-15, Jennah Schell took the Female 16-18 and Evan Weaver took first in the Male 16-18 division.

The second event was held at Deer Chase Golf Club in Linn Creek.  Audrey Rischer and Eli Herbert claimed their second Missouri Junior Tour titles. Archer Schnieders won the Male 10-11 division and Gunner Vlasis claimed first in the Male 12-13 division after a tie-breaker chip off against Chase Knorr. Lyla Louderbaugh claimed another Female 14-15 first place title and Alex Gentry shot a 72 (1 over par) to win the Male 14-15 division. Amber Wilson took the Female 16-18. There was another tie for first in the Male 16-18 division between Brayden Watts and Jeff Norman, but Brayden Watts took the title after a tie-breaker chip off.

MGA hosted the third event at the Ken Lanning Golfer Center in Jefferson City on the 9-hole par three course. The younger players competed on the Ken Lanning Course while the older kids played the Turkey Creek Course. Aidan Knipfel won the Female 9-hole, Sam Closser won the Male 8-9 and Archer Schnieders took his second Male 10-11 title. There was a tie in the Male 12-13 division between Lucas Randall and Logan Cox, and Cox won the chip off to take the title. Kassidy Hull won the Female 14-15 division, Spencer Melville won the Male 14-15, Sam Cornelius took the Female 16-18 and Jacob Krantz won the Male 16-18 division.

The fourth Junior Tour event took place at the Oak Hills golf Center in Jefferson City where Audrey Rischer won her third Female 9-hole title. Talon Hull and Sam Closser tied for first in the won the tie Male 8-9 division. Archer Schnieders claimed another Male 10-11 first place. In the Male 12-13 division, there was a three way tie among Zach Krantz, Andrew Fallis and Enoch Dunaway. Andrew Fallis won after the chip off. Greta Scheidt and Evan Moore won their first Junior titles in the 14-15 divisions. Amber Wilson took the Female 16-18 and Kyle Backs with the Male 16-18.

The final Junior Tour event in June was held at the Eldon Country Club. Audrey Rischer took the Female 9-hole division and Talon Hull took the Male 8-9. In the Male 10-11 division, Archer Schnieders and Jonathan Jordan tied for first and Jonathan Jordan took the win after a chip off. Logan Cox won the Male 12-13. Kassidy Hull won the Female 14-15 after tying with Madelyn Orr for first. Alex Gentry took the Male 14-15, Serena Berrey won the Female 16-18 and Spencer Rogers claimed the title in the Male 16-18 division.

The second Ken Lanning even took place in the beginning of July. Similar to before, the younger golfers played the Ken Lanning Course and older players competed on the Turkey Creek course. Jenna Nichols won the Female 9-hole, Dawson Schnieders won the Male 8-9,  Jonathan Jordan won the Male 10-11 after a tie-breaker chip off against Teagen Hull and Zachary Krantz won the Male 12-13 division. Greta Hinds and Kassidy Hulll tied in the Female 14-15 division. There was a six way tie for first in the Male 14-15 division, and Jake Closser claimed the title. Sam Cornelius won the Female 16-18 and Jacob Krantz won the Male 16-18 division.

The second Junior Tour event in July was hosted at the Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton. Audrey Rischer won the Female 9-hole, Eli Herbert won the Male 8-9, Archer Schnieders won the male 10-11 and Logan Cox won the Male 12-13 division. In the Female 14-15 division, Hannah Hilker took first, Zach Unnerstall won the Male 14-15, Serena Berrey won the Female 16-18 and Jack Rundle took the Male 16-18.

The final Junior Tour event took place at Lake Valley Golf & Country Club in Camdenton. Audrey Rischer took another Female 9-hole first place, Talon Hull won the Male 8-9, Archer Schnieders took another Male 10-11 title and Tyler Rent won the Male 12-13 division. Abby Howard won the Female 14-15, Zach Unnerstall won the Male 14-15, Amber Wilson took the Female 16-18 and Jack Rundle won the Male 16-18.

Players who had accumulated the most points throughout the Tour were invited to compete in the Junior Tour Championship in Lake Ozark. In the Female 9-hole division, Audrey Rischer won the first place title, Sam Closser won the Male 8-9 division after a tie-breaker chip off against Eli Herbert, Jonathan Jordan won the Male 10-11 division, Zach Krantz won the Male 12-13 division. In the older divisions, Kassidy Hull won the Female 14-15, Joseph Fallis won the Male 14-15 after a chip off against Alex Gentry, Amber Wilson won the Female 16-18 and Jack Rundle won the Male 16-18 division.
