It is with great sadness that I share  news of the passing MGA Hall of Fame Member Scott Bess.

Bess, a 1972 graduate of Mizzou, was inducted into the Missouri Golf Hall of Fame in 2014. A three-time All-State honoree and three-time state champion at Hickman High School, Bess stayed home to play for the Tigers.

After winning the 1969 Missouri Amateur, besting Tom Watson en route to the title, he came to Mizzou and was a two-time NCAA qualifier in 1971 and 1972. He finished as high as 6th at the Big Eight Championships.

Scott’s impact on the golf community and the Columbia community are immeasurable. His impact will be felt for generations of golfers to come. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones at this time as we mourn the loss together.

More information to come.
