Emily Goldenstein Wins the 78th Amateur Championship by 6 stokes!

Wednesday, July 20 concluded the final round of the 2016 MWGA Amateur at Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield, Missouri. The day began with Chandler Gallagher in the lead and Emily Goldenstein and Logan Otter closely trailed behind her by one stroke. Either of these three, as well as a few others, could certainly take the Amateur title with a great round. After the front nine Emily was one over, and Chandler and Logan were three over. This meant that Emily had the lead by one stroke. After Emily eagles hole number ten, she secured her lead and never looked back. She went on to shoot a 5 under par, 69 to win the MWGA Amateur by six strokes. Emily birdied holes fourteen through seventeen and then ended the eighteenth with an eagle. A truly incredible round! Chandler Gallagher shot a two over 76, which made her Runner Up of the 2016 MWGA Amateur. Logan Otter, shooting a 76, ended up finishing tied for third with Elizabeth Leath. Sarah Bell was named Low Junior. Her three rounds of the week were 77, 73, and 75. Sarah tied for seventh out of the entire field. We saw some great golf this week and we are thankful for all of the players and staff who made this tournament possible. Congratulations again to our Champion Emily Goldenstein, Runner Up Chandler Gallagher, and Low Junior Sarah Bell. We hope to see everyone at the 2017 MWGA Amateur and thanks for another successful tournament!
