The MJGA will compete against Mississippi, Arkansas and Oklahoma in the Junior Cup Team Matches. The matches rotate each year between the 4 states. Arkansas hosted the 2012 followed by Mississippi in 2013, Missouri in 2014 and now Oklahoma!The teams will be comprised of 6 male and 6 female players from each state that meet the criteria established by each state association.

The format of the tournament will be a four ball match played the first round, and the afternoon round will be an alternate shot match play and the third round will be singles match play. In four ball matches and alternate shot matches, the teams will consist of one (1) male and one (1) female on each team. The individual matches will be played male against male and female against female.The selection of team will be based on the point standings with the top four females and males being selected for inclusion on the Missouri Team. The remaining four spots will be Captains picks (2 female and 2 male). The Championship Event will be open to female and male age 14-18.

Missouri Team Members
Missouri Female Players:
Mikala Jungmeyer attends Russellville High School and will be a senior this coming fall. She has participated in 5 of our Hieronymus Junior Series Events, Junior Match Play, and the Junior Amateur. Mikala is two-time All-State in Class 1. She was also our 2014 Missouri Junior Golf Foundation’s Female Player of the Year. Mikala will experience her second year on the Missouri team.

Nichole Marquis attended Moberly High School and will be a freshman at William Jewel under a golf scholarship. She played in 5 of our HJS events, Junior Match Play, and the Junior Am. Nichole is three-time All-State in Class 1 and took 5th in State this past season with a 156 total. This will be Nichole’s third year on the Missouri team for Southern States Junior Cup.

Taylor Rose Hayes attended Osage High School and accepted a scholarship to play golf at Carson-Newman University where she’ll be a freshman. She played in the 2014 Junior Match Play and Junior Am. She also played in the Missouri Women’s Junior and Regular Amateur. Taylor has also been 4-time District Champion and 4-time All-State in Class 1. This will be Taylor’s second year on the Missouri team.

Lauren Plunkett will be a senior at Helias Catholic High School this fall. She participated in 5 of our Hieronymus events, Junior Match Play, Junior Amateur, Missouri Women’s Junior Am, and Missouri Women’s Am. Lauren shot her lowest MGA score in the Oak Hills Hieronymus event which was a 76. She helped take Helias to Class 1 State this past season with the team finishing in 4th.

Amber Wilson attends Camdenton High School and will be a sophomore. She played in 3 of our Hieronymus events, Junior Match Play, and the Junior Amateur. She made it to the Semi Final round of the Junior Match Play and lost 1 up on the last hole. One of her major accomplishments was having two hole-in-ones in 2011. She also went to the Callaway Junior Worlds in San Diego last year.

Olivia Sobaski will complete her final year at Sacred Heart High School in Sedalia, MO this coming fall. She took first place in our Junior Am carding a 73. She was also the overall medalist in the Junior Match Play and two of the Hieronymus events. Olivia has qualified for State all 3 years of high school so far.

Missouri Male Players
Kory Franks is a 2015 graduate of Blair Oaks High School. Franks is attending Missouri State University under a golf scholarship this fall. Franks was a four time all-state golfer for Blair Oaks. Franks also played in the MGA Stroke Play this year where tied for 6th. Kory won the 2014 AJGA Lockton Kansas City Junior. After winning this event, Kory became the top ranked junior golfer in the state of Missouri.

Baron Weaver is a 2015 graduate of Glendale High School. Weaver had a great senior year of golf, capturing the Class 4 individual state championship. He shot a two-day total of 141, 72-69. Weaver of Springfield will attend Drury University this fall under a golf scholarship.

Carter Tumminia is a 2015 graduate of Rockhurst High School in Kansas City. Tumminia has played in many MGA events this year including the junior match play, junior amateur championship, Missouri Stroke Play and the Missouri Amateur Championship. Carter qualified for the 3rd and final day of the Missouri Stroke Play at St. Joseph Country Club. Tumminia will be playing at the University of Central Missouri this fall for the mules.

Kerry Maguire will be a senior at Lee’s Summit West High school. Maguire made it to the Class 4 State Championship this year where he tied for 2nd with a two-day total of 144. Kerry was a finalist this year in the junior match play at Rivercut Golf Course.

Alex Ciaramitaro is a 2015 graduate of St. Louis University High School. Ciaramitaro tied for 16th in the Class 4 State Championship at Sedalia Country Club this year. Ciaramitaro has played in many MGA events this year, with his best finish coming at the Missouri Amateur Championship where he made it to the Sweet 16.

Christopher Obert will be a senior at Glendale High School in Springfield. Obert has played in our junior match play and junior amateur championship this summer. In the match play, Obert was a semi-finalist where he faced off against his southern states teammate Kerry Maguire. Obert is from Ozark, Missouri.On behalf of the Missouri Golf Association, we are excited to send these hard-working, notable golfers to represent the state of Missouri in the Southern States Junior Cup Matches.
