April 24, 2012 The MGA conducted a FREE golf clinic for high school players, parents and coaches on Saturday, April 21 at Turkey Creek Golf Center, Jefferson City.  There were 40 players with their coaches and parents in attendance to hear Molly Hudgins, Future College Golf Association and Dennis Goettel, PGA Professional.  The clinic was designed to assist the players to evaluate their golf game, practice habits and the academic requirements to move into college level golf.

Molly’s presentation was very informative and the attendees were hanging on her every word regarding the skill levels necessary to play college golf, the recruitment process, marketing yourself to coaches and the general academic requirements most institutions of high learning are looking for in golfers.  The attendees recognized the vast knowledge and experience Molly possess and their attention level was to be envied by their teachers.  Each attendee came away with a greater understanding and appreciation for what they need to do in order to move to the next level.

The skills clinic provided by Dennis, was amazing to see.  He was assisted by Al Chandler, PGA Professional and John Utley, PGA Professional, with every attendee given individual attention and assistance with their swing.  The swing clinic was proceeding by Dennis enlightening the attendees on the importance of good practice habits, practice routines and making the most of their practice time.  He reminded them, without a good mental approach to the game, their practice and playing will be not as productive as it should be.

The MGA would like to extend a hearty thanks to all of you and especially to Dan Baumgartner, owner, and all the staff of Turkey Creek Golf Center for hosting this clinic and providing the venue to make this a success.
